Description

Get more out of your PV system – with the AC-THOR Power Manager

Do you have a photovoltaic system and feed your excess electricity into the grid for just a few cents per kWh? It doesn't have to be that way! The my-PV AC-THOR automatically detects your PV surplus and converts it into free hot water – a smart alternative to expensive battery storage.

Key features at a glance: The AC-THOR is an intelligent power manager that continuously controls electric heating elements (0-3 kW) depending on the available solar power. Instead of wasting your energy, you use it yourself – for hot water when showering or to supplement your heating system.

Why the AC-THOR is the right choice for you

Maximum self-consumption without expensive battery storage

With the AC-THOR, you can increase your self-consumption of PV power to up to 85% – all without an additional battery storage system. On sunny days, the AC-THOR can cover your entire hot water needs. In summer, your gas or oil heating system remains off, significantly reducing your heating costs.

Real figures: A four-person household needs approximately 2.500-3.500 kWh per year for hot water. At current electricity prices, this saves you several hundred euros annually – money that would otherwise be spent on grid electricity or gas.

Stepless adjustment to your solar yield

Unlike simple on/off heating elements, the AC-THOR regulates its power continuously from 0 to 3.000 watts . This means that even with changing cloud cover or when only 500 watts of excess power are available, the device optimally utilizes every ray of sunshine. No energy is wasted, and there is no unnecessary feed-in to the grid.

Easy retrofit into your existing system

The AC-THOR was specifically designed for retrofitting . You will need:

  • An existing PV system (regardless of manufacturer)
  • A hot water storage tank or buffer tank with a free connection
  • An electric heater (0-3 kW)

Important: The AC-THOR is a control unit and does not include its own heating element . You will need a separate electric heating element , which the AC-THOR will then control intelligently. This can either be a new one or – if you already have an electric heating element – you can use that one.

Installation is done via pluggable connections – no complicated wiring required. The integrated touchscreen allows you to operate the device directly, without additional controls.

This is how the AC-THOR works in practice

Intelligent surplus detection

The AC-THOR works optimally with the my-PV WiFi Meter (sold separately). The WiFi Meter continuously measures how much electricity your PV system is currently generating and how much your household is consuming. As soon as there is a surplus, the AC-THOR automatically transfers it to your heating element.

Alternatively: Many modern inverters are already directly compatible. The AC-THOR communicates with over 70 manufacturers of inverters and energy management systems.

Perfect integration with battery storage systems

Do you already have a battery storage system? No problem! The AC-THOR operates as a hybrid storage system and prioritizes intelligently: First, your battery is charged, then the hot water is heated. This ensures that every kilowatt-hour is used optimally, even with larger PV systems.

Hot water supply even without sun

On cloudy days or in winter, you can optionally set the hot water to be heated to a minimum temperature – using mains electricity if necessary. This way you always have hot water , even when the sun isn't shining.

Technical Details & Applications

What can you control with the AC-THOR?

The AC-THOR controls electric heating elements in:

Warmwasserbereitung:

  • Drinking water reservoir
  • Buffer storage tank for heating support
  • Existing electric heating elements (0-3 kW)

Optional: Heating support

  • Electric underfloor heating
  • Infrared heating panels
  • Electric heating mats

Suitable heating element : The AC-THOR requires an electric heating element with a power output of 0-3 kW. The my-PV screw-in heating element 3 kW (sold separately) is recommended, as it was specifically designed for use with the AC-THOR. However, you can also use existing standard heating elements.

Recommended accessories:

  • my-PV screw-in heating element 3 kW (heating element))
  • my-PV WiFi Meter (for precise surplus measurement)
  • Additional temperature sensor (up to 4 sensors can be connected)

System openness & smart home integration

The AC-THOR is not a closed system . Thanks to its open interfaces, it can be easily integrated into your existing setup:

  • Compatible with common smart home systems (Loxone, Home Assistant, KNX)
  • Modbus interface for energy management systems
  • PWM input for external controllers

Summary: For whom is the AC-THOR ideal?

The my-PV AC-THOR is the perfect solution for you if you:

  • You have an existing PV system and want to increase your self-consumption.
  • Want to use surplus solar power effectively instead of feeding it into the grid cheaply.
  • Looking for a cost-effective alternative to expensive battery storage systems
  • want to reduce gas or oil heating costs for hot water
  • Want a flexible, open-system product that works with your existing technology?

Do I absolutely need an electrician for the installation?

The manufacturer recommends installation by an authorized professional. However, since all connections are pluggable and no wiring is required, the installation effort is significantly less than with conventional systems. If you have any questions about installation, please contact us via WhatsApp or email.

Is there already a [missing information] in AC-THOR? heater contain?

No, the AC-THOR is a control unit (power manager) and does not contain a heating element . You will need a separate electric heating element (0-3 kW), which you can either purchase new or use if you already have one. The my-PV 3 kW screw-in heating element is available separately from us as a suitable accessory.

Can I use my existing heater Use with AC-THOR?

Yes, in many cases this is possible! The AC-THOR can control electric heating elements with a power output of 0-3 kW. If your hot water storage tank already has an electric heating element , it can theoretically be used. For buffer tanks with an existing heating system connection, an additional electric heating element is usually installed for PV operation, while the existing heating element remains in place.

How much can I save with the AC-THOR?

This depends on the size of your PV system and your hot water consumption. Typical households save 30-40% on hot water costs by increasing their self-consumption . For a four-person household, this amounts to approximately 300-500 euros per year.

Is the AC-THOR compatible with my inverter?

The AC-THOR is compatible with over 70 manufacturers, including Fronius, SMA, SolarEdge, Kostal, Huawei, and many more. If your inverter is not listed, you can use the my-PV WiFi Meter – this makes the AC-THOR completely manufacturer-independent.
