FAQ (SolarVault 3 Pro)
The Jackery balcony energy storage system significantly increases your household's self-consumption of solar energy by combining solar power generation with battery storage, thus reducing electricity costs.
During the day, solar energy is primarily used for immediate household needs, and excess energy is automatically stored in the battery. At night or when sunlight is insufficient, the battery supplies your house with electricity, thus replacing more expensive grid power. In this way, the free solar energy of the day is effectively stored for use in the evening.
Yes, absolutely. Even without solar panels, the system can help lower your electricity bill.
It automatically charges the battery during times of low tariffs (e.g. overnight) and uses the stored energy to power your home during times of high tariffs (e.g. peak times in the evening).
Simply configure the tariff mode or the AI Smart Mode in the Jackery app. The system will then work automatically and requires no manual intervention.
Yes, it is fully compatible as an add-on system.
The Jackery balcony energy storage system integrates seamlessly with your existing rooftop PV system. No changes to your current PV wiring are required. You simply need to install a Jackery smart meter, which provides the system with the essential data to monitor the real-time difference between your household consumption and PV production.
When an excess of PV power is detected, the system automatically directs this excess energy to charge the battery via the device's grid connection interface.
Yes. This function is supported by the integrated bidirectional inverter – you can connect your micro-inverter directly to the device's AC socket to charge the battery.
Important: Ensure that the microinverter's output power does not exceed the Jackery device's maximum AC input power. Refer to the product datasheet for your specific model's specifications.
Yes, the system is compatible with solar panels from other brands, provided the electrical parameters match:
Open-circuit voltage (Voc): 16 V – 60 V
Operating current (Isc): ≤ 28 A
Power consumption of a single MPPT channel: not more than 1000 W.
Total power of all 4 MPPT channels: not more than 4000 W.
Note: We advise against connecting a single solar panel with a rated power exceeding 400 W in series, as the higher voltage may exceed the device's limits. If you are connecting two panels in parallel to one channel, you will need to purchase a parallel cable (Y-splitter cable) separately.
Yes, third-party micro-inverters are supported via the device's AC outlet interface.
Maximum supported input power (via AC outlet) – at least one battery:
SolarVault 3 Pro: 2300W (grid-tied) / 1200W (off-grid)
SolarVault 3 Pro Max: 3680W (grid-tied) / 2500W (off-grid)
SolarVault 3 Pro Max AC: 3680 W (grid-connected) / 2500 W (off-grid)
The system is currently compatible with common micro-inverter brands such as Enphase, Hoymiles and APS.
No, it is not compatible.
Jackery SolarVault 3 series devices cannot be combined with Navi 2000 or HomePower 2000 Ultra series hosts or batteries.
The SolarVault series host only supports capacity expansion with the original Jackery SolarVault 3 expansion batteries, with a maximum of 5 units.
To ensure the safety and performance of the system, please do not connect devices from different series together.
The installation is straightforward and involves two main steps:
1. Connecting to the mains power supply: Use the supplied mains connection cable to connect the device's "On-Grid" connection to a normal household socket (Schuko socket, type F).
2. Connecting the solar panels: Use the PV connection cable to connect your solar panels to the “PV input” ports on the side of the device. The system will automatically begin charging as soon as the connection is established.
After switching on the device, connect it to the Jackery app via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to complete the initial configuration and begin monitoring your system.
We recommend installing the device in a partially covered location with good ventilation, protected from direct sunlight and rain. Suitable locations include balconies, garages, or storage rooms.
Installation guidelines:
1. Environmental protection: The device has an IP65 protection rating and is therefore suitable for semi-enclosed outdoor areas.
2. Ventilation distance: Maintain a minimum distance of 2 cm between the back of the device and the wall.
3. Stability: Place the device on a level, stable surface (incline no more than 5°). A stone slab or a stable platform is recommended.
4. Network coverage: For optimal Wi-Fi connection, install the device within a 15-meter radius of your router.
5. To avoid: Do not install the device in locations exposed to direct sunlight, rain, or near flammable materials.
1. Rigid solar panels: Very versatile. They can be installed in gardens or on roofs using ground mounts, or on balcony railings without drilling using clamps or hooks.
2. Lightweight rigid solar panels: Flexible design. They are suitable for installation on walls, on the ground, or on small balconies with optional mounting brackets. For optimal compatibility, we recommend Jackery's special brackets for this panel type.
3. Flexible solar panels: Ideal for small or curved balconies. They can be easily attached with straps, without any drilling. Don't attach them too tightly so that the material can expand and contract with temperature changes.
Panel orientation directly impacts power generation efficiency. The optimal orientation depends on the number of modules and your energy goals:
Module 1: Align it precisely to the south to capture the strongest sunlight at midday.
2 modules: Use an east-west combination. The east-facing module generates electricity in the morning, while the west-facing module continues to operate until the evening, thus extending daily production.
3+ modules: A combination of south, east and west orientation ensures a more balanced and longer electricity generation profile from morning to evening.
Note: These are general recommendations for Europe. For precise optimization for your location, we recommend using a professional solar design tool: https://pvgis.com/en
German regulations for small plants focus on "performance limits" to distinguish between simplified and formal approval procedures.
Important limit values for a “small exempt installation”:
1. The total power output of the PV modules must not exceed 2 kW.
2. The output power of the inverter must not exceed 800 W.
If your system meets both conditions, it qualifies for a fast, simplified installation procedure and usually does not require a complex grid connection application.
If any of the limit values are exceeded, a formal approval procedure is mandatory:
1. Submit a formal application: Contact your local network operator to submit a complete technical network connection application.
2. Hire a certified electrician: The installation and commissioning must be carried out by an approved electrician in accordance with German safety standards (e.g. VDE-AR-N 4105).
3. Prepare for system certification: The network operator may request certified device documentation and conduct a preliminary check.
4. Signing a grid connection agreement: After approval, a formal operating agreement must be signed with the grid operator.
During the day, solar power is used to supply your home. Excess power automatically recharges the battery. At night or on cloudy days, the battery discharges to continue supplying your home with electricity, thus reducing your dependence on the power grid and lowering your electricity costs.
You can also activate AI Smart Mode via the app. This mode analyzes electricity tariffs, solar forecasts, and your usage patterns to calculate and execute the optimal operating strategy for maximum savings.
The system supports four modes:
1. Self-consumption: Maximizes the use of your solar energy. Requires a smart meter.
2. Tariff mode: Saves money by taking advantage of price differences between peak and off-peak times. No smart meter required.
3. User-defined mode: Set your own charging/discharging schedules. No smart meter required.
3. AI Smart Mode: The system learns and optimizes itself automatically. Requires a smart meter.
It is used to power household appliances.
By installing a smart meter or energy monitor, you can activate the zero-feed-in function. This maximizes self-consumption by minimizing the amount of electricity fed into the grid.
Yes. The device features intelligent temperature control and operates at temperatures from -20 °C to 55 °C.
To ensure stable operation in winter, the system automatically activates the battery heater when the temperature drops below 0 °C and the device is connected to the mains power supply.
To achieve near-zero feed-in from the grid, you need a smart Jackery electricity meter (e.g., 3P) or a compatible energy monitor. This measures your household's total electricity consumption and grid exchange in real time.
1. If solar power generation exceeds your household's consumption, the system will automatically charge to absorb the surplus.
2. If solar power generation is less than consumption, the system discharges to close the gap.
This precise control aims for a net power exchange with the grid of almost zero.
The system forecasts your household electricity demand by analyzing the time-of-use tariffs you enter and historical data on your solar power production and consumption patterns. Using intelligent algorithms, it then automatically calculates and executes the optimal charging/discharging strategy – including scheduling, power levels, and grid mode switching. The system continuously learns and optimizes itself over time without requiring any manual input.
Yes. The Jackery SolarVault 3 series features a fast EPS (Emergency Power Supply) transfer function. In the event of a power outage, the system automatically switches from grid-connected to off-grid mode within 20 milliseconds, providing reliable emergency power for your critical equipment.
The device itself is a single-phase 230V system and cannot be connected to or output from a three-phase 380V power supply.
No, it cannot directly supply the other phases. The balcony system only supplies the single-phase circuit to which it is connected. However, by installing a three-phase smart meter (or an energy monitor configured for aggregated metering), any excess energy you generate can be fed back into the grid. This surplus can offset your consumption on the other two phases, thus reducing your overall electricity bill.
The list of supported providers is updated regularly. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please refer to the list of supported providers in the Jackery app or on our dedicated support website.
The smart meter monitors your household's total electricity consumption in real time and transmits this data to the storage system (up to 50 m²). Based on this data, the storage system dynamically adjusts its charging and discharging power. The goal is to create a closed-loop self-consumption system: minimizing both the amount of electricity drawn from the grid and the amount fed back into the grid.
Yes, the Jackery SolarVault 3 system can be integrated with many popular smart devices to create an energy management system for your home.
Smart meters and monitors:
Jackery officially: Smart Meter 1P / 3P, TIC/D0/P1 interface reader.
Third party providers: Shelly (Pro EM-50, Pro 3EM), Everhome (EcoTracker P1/IR).
Smart plugs: Shelly Plus Plug, Shelly Plug S.
Smart home platforms: Home Assistant.
That's normal. The four MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) channels operate independently and optimize the power output for each connected solar string individually. Differences in orientation, tilt, or shading lead to varying power outputs. This design ensures that each string reaches its maximum potential.
If a channel consistently displays 0 W, please check the wiring and whether that particular module group is shaded.
Yes. The device is equipped with a standard RJ45 Ethernet port, allowing you to connect it directly to your router using a network cable. This is ideal for locations such as basements or enclosed balconies where the Wi-Fi signal is weak.
The SolarVault 3 supports integration with the Home Assistant platform. Please first configure the necessary settings in the Jackery app. Then, in your Home Assistant interface, go to HACS (Home Assistant Community Store), search for "Jackery" in the integration marketplace, and complete the installation.
