For which systems is this inverter suitable?

The 1100TL-G3 is suitable for small PV systems up to approximately 1,5 kWp module output. Typical applications include balcony power plants with 2-4 modules, garden sheds, or small rooftop systems. With an output power of 1,1 kW, it is ideal for systems with limited feed-in power.

Can I use this to power a balcony power plant?

Yes, the inverter is also suitable for balcony power plants. However, please note the currently applicable regulations: In Germany, balcony power plants are permitted to feed a maximum of 800W into the grid (inverter output). The 1100TL-G3 with 1,1kW exceeds this limit and would need to be registered with the grid operator as a regular PV system.

What is the difference between microinverters and microinverters?

Microinverters are the better choice for balcony power systems because they optimize each module individually and deliver significantly higher yields even with partial shading (e.g., from railings). The 1100TL-G3 string inverter is better suited for small rooftop systems without shading, where several modules are connected in series. For typical balcony power system scenarios, we recommend microinverters.

Is Wi-Fi monitoring free?

Yes, using the Sofar portal to monitor your system is permanently free. You can monitor your system via smartphone app or web browser and see in real time how much electricity you are generating.

Can I mount the inverter outdoors?

The inverter has an IP65 protection rating and can be installed in a sheltered outdoor area. However, it should be protected from direct weather (e.g., under a canopy, on a sheltered wall, or in a cabinet). Avoid direct sunlight and standing water.

What does VDE-AR-N 4105 conformity mean?

This is the technical connection rule for connecting power generation plants to the low-voltage grid in Germany. The inverter meets all required standards and has an integrated ENS protection circuit (grid disconnect device) that automatically disconnects the plant from the grid in the event of a grid fault.

Do I need additional accessories?

The package includes a Wi-Fi dongle, MC4 connectors, and mounting hardware. You will need MC4 solar cables of the appropriate length for connecting to the solar panels. These are available separately.

How do I register?

Installation and registration must be carried out by a qualified electrician. They will handle the registration with the grid operator. As the plant operator, you are responsible for registering with the Federal Network Agency's market master data register – this can be done online in just a few minutes.
